This is a reproduction of a steel war hammer from Germany, on display in the Nuremberg Museum, that was in use in the late 16th and early 17th century. It has a 5 3/4” long by 2” wide solid steel head with a hammerhead on one side, balanced by a strong spike on the other. The steel handle has a cord-wrapped grip, giving you a secure hold when using it.
