Mine came in very sharp. I have many Karambits but wanted a smaller one for work. This fit the bill. I use it every day now and it seems to hold an edge pretty well. Definitely worth 13 dollars. I may get the stonewashed one as well for the price.
I had bought the 13 inch stilleto knives from ebay but two of the three had issues with the blade and handle so I needed a knife that doubles for utility and defense for off hand combat. This fits the bill! The knife is sharp right from the box and double edged! I had requested the engraving to be done and I love it! I do want to point out that I still sharpen my knives a bit more precise by preference once they come in since it can never be too sharp! ;) Lastly, it is better to loop the belt through the holster instead of sliding it on but like someone said, you can reinforce it with paracord to avoid it coming off. Awesome job Budk!
This is my new GO TO blade. *****FIVE STARS***** Only 2 things I want to mention. The belt 'clip' for the sheath should have a different design so that you don't have to unfasten your belt to secure it but also to keep it attached when deploying the knife. The sheath itself though has excellent retention to keep the knife secure if wearing it as a neck knife. Second, I plan on wrapping paracord around the handle for a little bit more 'comfort'. All in all, I am super happy with this purchase. THANK YOU BUDK and United Cutlery. I look forward to many other purchases!!!
Got in today after reading the reviews I was a bit taken aback about the dullness and lack of an edge on the outer edge. Well I was prepared to put it to the belt grinder and through the whole gambit of sharping and re-profiling, cause what good is a single edge Karambit in CQC. When I opened the box I was over joyed to see and feel the double edges and I mean RAZOR SHARP edges both sides shaved my arms bald. The handle is a bit uncomfortable but I did the same as I did with my U.C. magnum push dagger I took a lil black stick to self gauze and comfy'ed it up a lil, and it is one BADASS weapon!!! P.S. Im lovin it and BUDK!!! `
This is the only karambit I've trusted. Secure lock in hand and a no nonsense approach is what caught my attention and for good reason...it works.
When I got this blade it was a sharp tip and not sharp at all but I sharpened it up with my gerber sharpener. I love the karambit knife style but the comfortable grip is not so comfortable lmao, but it makes up for it with its uniqueness with the duel holes for your pointer finger and pinky. The sheith isn't so great though it broke were the holster hooks up to the belt but paracord fixes that, so I'm leaving this with a four star rating!
I love everything about this knife. I wear it all the time and i just the love the feeling of the draw as well as how it fits into my hand. the only problem is the belt loop. I originally bought one, but one day i stood up and it caught on the chair and the belt loop snapped. No more belt loop; so i just went out and bought a whole new knife. So now i have a knife that sits in my draw as a back up just in case i lose the new one now. But recently I just broke that belt buckle doing the same thing as the last time, standing up from a chair. Now i have two knives and i am not able to carry them on my person, and I just cant go out and buy a new one. So I spent some time looking for a replacement belt loop but to no avail. and that is the main reason as to why it has lost a star. Wish it was possible to order a replacement loop, then that would make this all the better. So the knife is definitely a 5 out of 5. And as I said, my only problem is that belt loop.
Good knife, yes was dull. Sharpened it with carbide sharpener. It is single edged and check local laws before making double edged, you might make it illegal.
I am no martial arts expert. I chose two of these as my EDC daily carry and they are exactly what I wanted. These are perfect for starting with and I modified mine to what I felt would suit me best. can easily be given a decent edge. I used an angle grinder and finishing stones to angle my blades to where I wanted. wicked tough. I also modified the sheeths for inside the belt carry. These definately will do some damage to anyone who comes at you if needed. And the price is attainable for almost anyone.
got 2 stainless steel on bogo, only sharp thing is the tips. took hours to reprofile & sharpen
Very disappointed with BudK. I got my karambits yesterday and first saw the case had a big crack on it. Then I noticed its only single edge. I searched through many karambits and liked this one because it said double edge on the video. To me there's no point getting a karambit that has a single edge. Clearly that's false advertising. I write to customer service about the issue and there was no apology or anything about the single edge. They didn't even mention it. All they said was that they are sorry for the damage of the case and they're giving me a paid postage sticker to return my item. To me that's to much trouble. I'm not wasting my time with BudK any longer. Don't be fooled by the man in the video saying its double edge because it's not.
Response: Thank you for pointing that out, we apologize for the miscommunication in the video and have taken the video down.
Cool-looking but not usable (except maybe for opening bags of bird seed). The Back edge does not exist. It looks like it's there, but the metal is rounded. I have yet to see a true double-edged karambit. But even the forward edge was not very sharp. I don't get this about U.C. and also many Hibben knives. Why is it so hard to sharpen a knife? I know they can do it. There are some U.C. and Hibben knives that come quite sharp. Then there are others that come dull. Why? and why does the copy say razor sharp when it is barely sharpened at all? It can't be good for business.
This is the second review as the first one I was asked to write was taken down. I don't know how you guys can even say its double edged when it doesn't even have a single edge. All it has is a sharp point. Wasted my money on two of them.
Response: Thank you for your review. There was a production error that caused us to receive a single-edged version. We've updated our product description to reflect this. We're sorry about your dissatisfaction, as always you can return your purchase if you are not 100% satisfied. Just give customer service a call and we'll arrange it for you.
These (I got two of them)are pretty nice, I like them. Besides a set of plastic practice Karambits I got, these are my first ever since I became infatuated with the weapon and techniques. The sheath kinda sucks, but the blades themselves are sleek in appearance, fit nicely in the hand and easy to work with. I read a few complaints before purchasing that they're not actually double-sided,which is true. In my humble opinion that's the only real major flaw.
The knife comes dull as a butter knife. I had to sharpen it for quite a long time just to get a descent edge. The sheath is actually not that bad at first, but after some use the belt clip on the back broke off. But the worst part about the knife is the grip, I find it extremely awkward (by the way I dont have small hands). If you want a karambit get the Cold Steel Steel Tiger.
I don't know what the scam is, but these knifes are neither sharp nor hardly have an edge, and they are definitely not double sided. Do some re search before waiting your money.
I sent this knife back. The little and index finger holes were half an inch too close for my hand. This would work for a amall to medium sized hand but not a large one.
The knife feels and fits good in my hand. I have had problems with trench style knife handles not fitting my large hands/finger, but this one fits great. The blade on the underside was sharp, but the upper blade was really dull and took forever to get a sharp edge using a diamond/carbide, handheld sharpener. After pulling the blade from the sheath, it is necessary to change grips. I mean, the finger hole closest to the blade is covered by the sheath, so you have to take an extra step just to hold the blade properly after removing it from the sheath. However, the sheath is good quality and fits the blade well enough that it would practically never fall out of the sheath by accident. The sheath is a little larger than I had hoped, but the belt loop/clip attachment can be removed easily by unscrewing to screws on the back of the sheath making it less bulky. I believe the sheath needs to be redesigned to make this a practical self defense weapon just because of the critical time consuming extra step it takes to re-grip the handle after removing the blade from the sheath. It requires two hands to pull the blade from the sheath and re-grip the blade by inserting to fingers into the respective holes. It would be an amazing challenge to pull this knife with one hand. For the price, I would make this purchase again. No buyers remorse here.
I LOVE this knife. The sheath is well-made (surprisingly). The point of the knife is brutally sharp, and, unlike many reviews, my blade came very sharp. The back edge wasn't sharp, but a dremel fixed that problem. Now, it's my constant companion. I can't say enough good about this knife AND BudK.
Duh it's a small knife, did these people not know this before purchasing? This knife was way better than expected when it came in the mail, considering the price. I was actually hoping it to be a bit smaller than it turned out to bit, however, great size. The only thing is the blade is very dull, definitely needs a good sharpening, but great value!
Very nice solid knife especially for the money-- as most have written, not very sharp but good enough. A few swipes and she is as sharp as any. Excellent value, great company to deal with. Looking forward to our next transaction. Regards Cybrvol Lebanon TN
Love how sharp the needle point is. I rigged it up to go across the small of my back:-)
So after playing the amazing game Splinter Cell: Blacklist, I became intensely interested in the karambit knife and realized that I needed one. After searching everywhere for one, I finally landed here at BudK. I had always heard that their prices and knives were amazing, and a buddy of mine said that they had a nice selection of karambits, so I started checking them out, which led me to this specific one. The price was very nice, and it looked pretty awesome, so I ordered it. Now after having it for nearly two weeks, I feel like I got terribly ripped off. I understand that someone will say you get what you pay for, but this is absolutely ridiculous. I have ordered several knives off of Amazon, and all of them came as advertised, and sharp as h**l. To claim this item is double edge is a bold face lie; the top side was terribly dull. And I understand that it's basically illegal to sell something double edged, but don't advertise it as such then. Sharpening this knife is also an absolute nightmare. A buddy of mine sat for nearly two hours, attempting to sharpen this with his whetstone before finally saying screw it; it was a pain just to watch him struggle with sharpening this when I've seen this guy take the crappiest, dullest blade and give it a razor sharp edge. To put this simply, if it wasn't for the scuffs and scratches the blade has earned from countless times trying to sharpen it, I would attempt my best to send it back and get my money back to actually buy a knife that can at least cut through paper, not tear through it like I was using a spoon to cut through the paper. This was my first purchase with BudK, and even though I shouldn't judge them this easily, this may be my last. I feel lied to, and I don't appreciate it. And if I could, I would've given this knife no stars, because that's all it deserves.
Very nice karambit. The sides aren't sharp, but they don't need to be. point is razor sharp, though. the only problems that I had with the knife was the large grip. My hand does not fit comfortably in the second hole. This isn't a major problem, I just don't use the second hole. The sheath is mostly nice, but takes some getting used to. Once the bolts are lock-tight and you find a thin enough belt to fit through the sheath (I used my boy scout belt), it works very well. Every once in a while, the knife has trouble getting completely into the sheath, but it's just a minor nuisance on occasion. Very good knife for the price!
Great blade. One solid piece of steel and the tip is very sharp, the actual edge isn't as sharp. Great defensive blade. Not the type of knife for field work or bushcraft or survival, it's purely for fighting. Practice working on basic boxing punches with this in your fist and you'll have an idea of how to best employ this blade. United Cutlery is also a great company with excellent customer service. They sent me a replacement sheath after I broke this one. Great company and great blade.
This is the best karambit ever! Fresh out of the box it was super sharp. This will be the knife I carry ever where.
I have bought lots of knives from BudK, all of them have been razor sharp right out of the box except for this one. I was quite disappointed because of this. I was able to sharpen it somewhat so that its a decent edge but the curve on the blade also makes for somewhat difficult sharpening.
it is a nice knife but didnt have much of a edge.. a little work it comes out good. the sheath is not as durable for every day wear it has already broke only had it 2 months. cuts well and is a nice knife to have around.
Came un sharpened, but with a touch up on a sanding disc, it hold a nice edge. Draws and holsters nicely. Nice balance and grip. A multi-useful edged blade.
I was surprised at the quality when I received these karambits. I oredered two of them, and received them very quickly. They are fairly comfortable. One with larger hands may have trouble holding this knife comfortably, but it fits my hand well. Both came with very nice tips. I read some of the other comments about how hard this knife was to sharpen. I didn't have any problems sharpening these blades. I enjoy the light weight feel of these knives as well. This karambit has nice "rugged" spots on both ends of the handle for a good grip for your thumb. All in all this is a very nice karambit.
Love this blade! Good steel. Came serviceabley sharp but definitely can be improved. Decent plastic sheath. Good self defense knife or 2nd knife when carrying.
Knife is solid and easy to draw. Latched it to my tactical messenger bag. Inside curve needed some sharpening, outside needed a lot of work to get it sharp. For the price no complaints though
ok...this was a good knife for the price.looked nice, durable sheath.an it shipped fairly fast!!!...BUT,when i recieved the knife it was so dull as if a butter knife.other than the lack of sharpness it was decent.i personaly am not satisfied because of the fact it wasnt sharp...but to each is own.
Knife is well built nice case but it knife came dull. I mean squared edge having a h**l of a time sharpening it. besides that not to bad a knife.
i love this thing! came sharp and tatcial and very awesome looking.cons: the top ring hurt my pinky in reverse grip and the sheath broke :(. but over all awesome knife! i do recommend it.
This was an overall good product. The knife itself was really pointy, not sharp, but karambits don't need to be. I have smaller hands, and this product was made for people with big hands. But its not that big of a deal, I just cant put my pinky in the second finger hole comfortably. The sheath was a little disappointing. Its a little hard to get it in there all the way sometimes, and the belt lop is a little small, but it works. A very good buy, though.
This weapon is quite intimidating. If you had this in a street fight you would probaly win. The only thing is that it is not sharp but it is not made to be because blunt force would do the job. So overall, a great weapon
Great knife, love it, but came in dull. No big deal, still going to order another one soon.
I just received this knife yesterday and from the moment i pulled it out of the box I fell in love with it. Very sharp, great quality steel and it looks awesome. This product is easily worth double what its selling for. I recommend this to any knife lover.
The handle was very awkward to hold because its so small in the middle and the finger holes are far apart. I double wrapped the middle with paracord to fill in the empty space and it now feels much better. The blade is very sharp and fairly durable. I have used it to cut through many different materials. I recommend this karambit.
Im happy with the item itself as it seems like it COULD be a good self defense weapon. however it is so dull at this point it would be better as a butter knife.
If you are a fan on combat knifes then you will love this knife like i did. Great for tricks and many possibilities with this knife. Excellent truly a wonderful product.
The tip is a very acute point! The blade is somewhat sharp out of the box but it sharpens easily. The sheath is easy to use with the downward grip that seems to be the standard for Karambits. Comparing this to the Honshu Karambit which costs significantly more, this is a much better quality knife. OK. the only thing I can say positive about the Honshu knife is that it has a just a great handle -- but that is it. This United Cutlery Undercover knife is a real find.
I've had this knife for almost a year now. It is very pointy to say the least, and it is still in perfect shape. I accidentally broke off the edge of my case by dropping it however. A little difficult to remove, and extremely difficult to sharpen, but this knife is deadly. I'd recommend this knife to anyone who wants a nice cheap tactical knife, that is easily concealable.
Very sturdy metal, odd draw out angle. I've found its good to put the top of the knife to the top of the sheath to put it back smoothly. overall, great buy!!!
I have been collecting karambits for a few years now and thought this would be another nice addition to the collection. It is probably the best karambit available for the price. The only drawback is the finger hole for the 4th finger. It is very awkward to try to re-grab after an attack. Bottom line though, the intimidation factor far overshadows any negatives in this knife.
This Is a "vicious" looking Karambit! My Little sister just bought us a matching set for us to practice on and other than this being a single edged Karambit, for the price it's great! Way to go United Cutlery and thanks BudK!!! Isaac & Irene.
This thing is awesome its everything I was expecting and more, when you pull this bad boy out they will know it. Strong and Dependable is what I was looking for and found. I am getting another cause dual wielding these will be Fun. If your looking for a claw weapon this is the one you.
Absolutely pleased. Concealable, once you get used to the removal angle, it comes out quite swiftly. Love the steel, fit, grip, forwards and back, and sharpness of blade was very nice. Now to sharpen on my own, the back side, which did come with a very steep grind. glad I have my own bench grinder here.
Again and Again i'm impressed with True Swords prices. This is a worthy blade for any collection. A little dull, but some sharpening skills can overcome this. This is a good knife for protection... who wouldn't be scared of a person with a blade that turns them into one of the raptors from Jurassic Park
this thing is freaken awesome. the sheath is great the steel is great quality. i would recommend this knife to anyone thanks budk
for a concealable self defense blade for under 20 dollars? its fantastic! the sheath is plastic, and takes some getting used to for quick draw and sheathing but its "the manclaw" you've always wanted. double finger rings and full length blade thickness, Its great, good buy.
what you have to understand about a karambit in terms of self defense use is the tip of the blade is the power. it is a slashing weapon and i can say this knife is a good choice. The tip is needle sharp the way you want it.
its not that sharp on the sides but is it is on the tip. the grip is big... but i have big hands so its great! but if you have small hands not so much. that's what i have to say _3
this is my third buy from ts and i say this is now my favorite knife. under side is semi sharp and the back side is dull but the point is very sharp me and my brother have already almost cut ourselves with it. the only bad thing about it was it took a week to get here probly because i live far from the manufacturer. but all in all a verry good buy. also i am a big guy and the finger holes fit so good for anyone
I am somewhat disappointed by this product. Neither edge is sharp at all. I can press the edges into my bare skin and run the blade over my skin without any pain and no chance of the skin breaking. The grip of the knife feels big in my hand. I am by no means small (6'4") and neither are my hands, but I feel as if my hands would need to be bigger for a more secure grip. The sheath takes some getting used to. It will not have the quickest draw, but quicker than a manual flip open I suppose. One great thing about the knife is that the point is literally needle point sharp. Touch this part with much pressure, and you will come away with blood drawn. Cool looking and I guess the edges can be sharpened to something more dangerous... The grip is the only thing that cannot be fixed on this knife.
Beautiful piece. solid. uses are endless. not nearly as sharp as advertised. excellent sheath. lightweight. easy maneuverability. multiple grip positions. a great self defense knife. this is replacing my smith and wesson spec. ops folder on my belt no questions asked. glad i bought it indeed.
