I've always liked schrade knives. good build, the viper series was amazing. but when they came out with the tough tool series, they stepped out of there quality reputation and really soiled a good brand name. this tool is a two hand operation item just to open the pliers. once u open the tool, the pliers are not spring loaded, wich can make repairing a fence, twisting wire, or any job u need done a lot harder then it has to be. so you would think that atleast the knife blade would be good right? wrong... I bent the blade with my thumb and chipped it a quarter of the way down cutting a leather saddle strap. seriously you guys... poorly made
I needed a decent multi tool for my survival/ disaster/ bug out, pack. The legendary name brand tools were just to expensive to justify, for something that will likely just sit, yet I did not want some lousy, flimsy item that would let me down if id did need be used in an emergency. At $19.99 especially with the .99 cent shipping special, this one came in on budget. It is imported, they don't try to hide that. That said, it is a very good build quality, fit, and finish. The size of a normal pliers or side-cutters when unfolded, the stamped heavy gauge handles are comfortable, even though they hold a good, no nonsense assortment of tools, many of which lock, as mentioned in another review. Pliers head is well machined, works smoothly with no play. The paint is some higher quality system, perhaps electro-staticly applied, low sheen black, smooth and sexy. Ought to be OK for a freshwater fisherman's tackle box, but I doubt it would handle a saltwater environment for any length of time. housed in a very stout pouch with velcro flap and belt loops, (which is a decent item in itself), except for the flap being a bit too short so it does not contact all the velcro there is on the pouch, but still closes up OK with a bit of attention. I appreciate well made items, and love a bargain or a value, and this hits all three bells. Inexpensive enough that multiple deployments are possible, keeping handy tools within reach for those "pinch"situation in the car, boat, home, or camp. I am very pleased with this tool and am glad I took a chance with it, 98% pros, 2% cons, makes it a 5 of 5 in my book! Well done BUD K, excellent product offering at great price point, hope to see more item like this!
This is a great product! It didn't say in the discription that the main tools on one side have a lock blade feature. That's a huge plus and they might sell even more when people hear about it. It's a bit larger than I realized so it will end up in my vehicle along with my survival shovel.
