Assisted openning not real that good at all. Still requires the old flip of the wrist to open blade.

It was OK but assisted openning it's definitely not

Good knife for the price

This knife does not advertise assisted open, because it's not. I'm not sure where everyone is getting that. That said, the action on it is great. The detent is excellent and the ball bearings are smooth. That combination makes for a very snappy opening. I can see how people would mistake it for assisted open, as the action is pretty much flawless. The lockup on this knife is also excellent. There is no blade play when the lock is engaged. The only problem I have in this area is the smaller profile of the handle lends itself to putting your fingers against the lock bar when trying to close the knife. This can make the knife a little more difficult to close. The blade has a beautiful stonewashed finish. It unfortunately is 3cr13 steel though. This is one of the biggest areas this knife is lacking. I don't really expect a good steel on a cheap knife though. The blade came reasonably sharp. I will hone mine before putting it into my collection. The centering on this knife is excellent, sitting dead center of the blade's resting place. The pocket clip feels a little stiff in hand, but worked as it should when placed onto the pocket liner. My overall impression of this knife is that with a better blade steel, the company could easily charge twice the price. With an 8cr13mov, I'd be willing to pay 30-40 dollars for this knife. With yet an even better steel I might consider the 50-60 dollar price range. This is actually a really good knife for the price point. For the $10 I paid as a knife of the month subscriber, it's an excellent value for the price. The only reason I'm giving this knife four stars, is the issue with the lock bar when closing the knife.

Not exactly assisted opening, but works fine otherwise

Just received this as my KOTM and it looks really, really good with the blade retracted, but when the blade is out it just looks VERY intimidating. Blade is very, very sharp and I can see getting work done with it. As others stated, this is an assisted opening knife, but it only partially works - if at all. This might just be me, but the knife is a lot more basic than my other knives. Part of me worries I could unintentionally break it just holding in the mechanism to close the blade In general, I do love the look and feel of this knife. I hope its small stature is misleading and it lasts a while.

Good knife

The rampage tailwind is well constructed and balanced, comes with a razor sharp edge and is light. The pocket clip is excellent but the only con to this knife I felt was the lack of assisted opening. Even though it states it has a ball bearing system, it lacks the swiftness of an assisted mechanism.

Extremely lightweight

It's a good knife and lightweight as described. The design is beautifuI, and like it, but the hull recessed on the thumb side, so be careful during one handed closing.

Nice pocket knife

Excellent product: light, smooth action, convenient. So far, it is retaining it's edge quite well.

Well-crafted and useful

This knife feels great in the hand, opens quick and easy. The curved blade is sharp and cuts well. Pocket clip is sturdy and fits snug. I'm very happy with this purchase.

Great Flipper

A very well designed EDC. I carry it when I go for my daily walks. It is a joy to carry and to Flip out. I have a large collection of both Economy and Expensive Knives and this is one of my favorite ones. The action is as smooth as one of Ken Onions IKBS systems and the design is both striking and useful. Not my first Tailwind and won't be my last
