The M52 was a veritable solid steel tank among headgear. Even today, this helmet is capable of providing ample head protection - perfect for tactical operations, demolition and countless other "hardhat-necessary" tasks (note advanced age and use at your own risk). Despite its tough build, this helmet is surprisingly comfortable, with its adjustable leather inner suspension and adjustable leather chin strap. the helmet itself is pretty big, but the liner inside was fitted for someone with a REALLY small head. I bought this wanting to use it for airsoft, but it didn't even come close to fitting. it looks pretty good on my shelf, but other than that i don't have a reason for it
This Russian helmet will make a great addition to my collection. It is in excellent shape. The paint is complete with the usual storage small scrapes from years of storage. The liner and chin strap are mint condition. Yes, the red star is a decal and not paint. Oh well, other wise this is a great addition. Will display well. I did not intend to wear it so the size is of no consequence to me.
You can tell by the picture that the star is actually a sticker put on at some point. It is even more obvious when you actually get it. This helmet is really small so be careful if you have even a slightly larger than average head. The quality is good and it is almost from WWII so it has that going for it as well. I really just wish it was available in more than one size.
I ordered this helmet about a week ago and I got it yesterday. It came in a box with a ton of paper to protect it. the helmet came with a few scratches, but the star was perfect and had no paint missing on it. I think the suspension system is good, and the steal is thick, but not that heavy. The strap feels good on my neck/chin, but it is a little hard to do up nicely. Mine is a size 2, and is dated 1954. The steel is a few Millimeters thick, so it would probably stop a 9mm or a .45 (even though these helmets were not meant for bullet, just shrapnel. (dont shoot yourself with a gun, even though it might stop the bullet.).
