I don't know which ones to like out of the six that I received.. two are smoother textured, longer, and wider and four are rough textured, shorter, and slimmer. I would like both styles but the two throw different than the four. Anyone recently get these and do yours have a smooth or rough texture?
Well balanced, sturdy and equally as good non spin or spin technique and grips. Have has some about two years with no breaks at the weakening holes in the handles. The black finish holds up great. Heavy enough to stick with real authority. Can't see it in the pictures but the light area around the blade is a polished mirror like chrome and the black is a total pitch black dull and semi gloss in a way. Very cool looking. The point is very, very sharp but the blade edges are rounded slightly so not sharp at all. I never have had any problem with a solid stick(on a good throw of course). I'm sure they would sharpen up fine although I never have tried to, didn't see the need for it. BudK has the best price on average of anyplace I've seen and with one of their higher % coupon codes it is a definite best deal. Makes it easier to get a set and gots to have at least three of these baby's in the arsenal to toss and worth every cent spent on them.
This is a GREAT throwing knife!!! I love tossing it at a good piece of wood or a target made from a slice of soft log. The balance is awesome for throwing from handle or from point. It is extremely solid and heavy. The weight does not make it difficult to throw, because of the good balance, but it is plenty heavy enough to make a solid stick even without putting any muscle behind it. Out of the box, the shiny edge is dull and not sharpened which, for a throwing knife, is not really a problem. The holes in the grip are perfect for wrapping it in 550, which makes a good grip that will last through the abuse of being thrown. While the design allows for a lot of modification for survival purposes etc. (such as strapping it to a pole as a spear or sharpening the shiny edges and using it as a light chopping tool), this baby is primed for 1 simple task--throwing. While straight out of the box it serves absolutely no other purpose, it performs the task to which it is assigned better than any other knife under $20, in my opinion. If you've been throwing a while and you are looking for a little upgrade from low end throwers, this is a safe bet. Grab one and see for yourself!
