Not a Machete

THis is a nice long blade, double edged, very sharp, very thin. Not enough weight to be considered a machete. If you were to use this on a large branch or sage brush it would undoubtedly role the edge and ruin it. Now, as a quick slicing/slashing short sword it is excellent. Just don't use it where the edge will take a hit. THin blade, very flexible, but not made for heavy hits. Tall Grass, ok. Bushes and branches, no. But still a nice blade, I have the Commander series of knives, boot knife, tanto and this one, nice set of lightweight blades, the boot knife is tough though, it actually matches my smith and wesson boot knife pretty close.

Sharp as it can be.

Very impressive blade, thin, I wouldn't use it for cutting much more than tiny branches or tall grass. Not a machete in my opinion, but would split a watermelon easy enough. If you are looking for a game trail branch cutter look at the heavier blades. This is light weight, very sharp, but flexes and would bend if you were to thrust into something. Sure it would scare anyone looking to mess with you just for sheer look of the blade. I like the nylon sheath but the serrated edge towards the hilt snags on it and I can see that it would shred the nylon in short order.

versatile and useful tool

When I saw this blade, I just had to have it. I had been trying to imagine an ideal combination machete sword tool for a while, and this hits the spot. I took it on our annual 3 day canoe camping trip last Thanksgiving day weekend. It performed well and you know you have a self defense weapon on hand if you would need one against wild hog, snakes, wild dogs, rapid coons, etc. The length is just right for use as a machete, and still long enough to be a stand off weapon. It takes and holds a good edge, and it just looks bad a**! Get one, it will make you want to go play!

Great for combat and brush clearing

Very sturdy blade for the price. One again UC has delivered everything they promised. The handle is very durable and while the blade itself is a bit bowed, this is to expected with any stamped blade. Overall a great buy for a great price.

Does the job

It is a cool short sword, but as a machete it is not as good as a standard style machete, but it is adequate to clear the brush and get the job done. This blade will definitely come along on my next camping adventure as my machete, and I have many to choose from. I like the idea of having a handy weapon in my hand as I bushwhack a trail through the jungle bush.

This is my favorite sword that I have bought. It is a decent machete, but I would not suggest any heavy work for it. It is light and durable. Works great as a short sword. A great buy.

The only use for this is lightweight brush work. Slicing kudzu, vines and briars. It will not handle choping anything heavier. Short sword? Not a chance. The blade is way too thin and would buckle under a heavy thrust. 4mm blade and this would have been nice. For the money go with the cold steel thai machete.
