I received the second compass, the BV229 for $2.98 and it was not accurate like the first one with the needles going every direction ... I sent both of them back (at my expense) with a note explaining the problem and expecting a refund or credit.... Now the 'look-a-like' compass, SACC50B for $6.99 I was happy with, it was accurate and the needle stayed on its pivot point. Of course, these are both inexpensive compasses just for fun use but still I expected them to point to magnetic North.
I bought the more expensive compass that looks identical to this one but looks is deceiving - this compass though a look-a-like to the other brass frame compass does not work and the needle points in all directions and can't be depended upon for accurate bearings - I called and the nice lady is sending me another one and a prepaid carton to send this one back to them. I hope the one they send me isn't like this one... happy trails...
