These solid black, 8" high GI-type speed-lace jungle boots are built to rigid specs! Heavy duty rubber “Commando" style soles and heels are vulcanized to the flexible cowhide leather toe, heel and lace areas. These boots have canvas and nylon uppers and breathable side vents. When you're going up against the elements, you want to be facing them wearing these Jungle Boots!
I really enjoy these boots. I originally got them a size 10, but they were too big. The Size 10 also did not have insoles either. I sent them back, and exchanged them for a 9. Fits perfect. They also have insoles too. Only problem is that they get worn on the inside. Externally, they are great. Can't help the way they look.
I'll start by saying this is both my first time ordering boots online, and buying "commando style" boots (though I have bought work boots many times before). So all of what I'm about to say very well may be standard practice for either, or both of those. First off, these boots had no insole. This is not an exaggeration about a low quality insole, but quite literally no insole at all, just the bare bottom of the inside. I'm assuming this is partly how the boots can go for so cheap, since I was stuck buying a $15 pair just to walk around in them for any serious amount of time. Second: these are about 2.5 sizes too large. I ordered the 11's, and when they came (which took two weeks; pretty standard for CHK though in my experience), they had a sticker inside, on the heel, labeling them both as size 11's. In reality, they were closer to size 13.5's. I had my father, who wears a 13, try them on, and they fit him quite well. Again, this very well could just be a conveniental practice for this style of boot I'm unaware of, but I've never experienced anything like that. Finally: the build quality. Despite my gripes with this purchase, these are otherwise we'll crafted boots. I have taken them hiking in various SoCal conditions (rivers, mountains, sand, gravel, fine soil, etc) and they have been pretty great. They are highly breathable, and offer enough ankle support without making it borderline impossible to rotate your foot. The actual sole is nothing spectacular, but isn't gonna fail you either. They clean up pretty easily, if you're worried about that, and don't retain water, so if you just hose them down, they dry quickly. Overall, I would say I'm happy with MY purchase, but I wouldn't recommend it to someone else, unless they liked the design enough to spend ~$55, and didn't need it for at least 2 weeks.
I`ve been wearing these boots seance 1969, with 3 tours in Vietnam, they are very hard to find, the pair I have now I bought a year ago from BUDK and will buy a new pair soon as long as BUDK has them in stock.
I just received my boots today and am wearing them to work to break them in. They fit great and feel good while walking. I walk a lot every day as a security supervisor at a college and these are really comfortable out of the box. I may get another pair.
So I got these about a month ago (at the time of writing). I work as a cart pusher and I'm constantly going up and down the parking lot (that's is very hilly, most of which is uphill) and bought these to replace my old boots. They're pretty good, didn't take too long to break in, I had wide feet so when I get normal sneakers I have to get a wide, these fit me just fine right out the box. They're fairly cool, despite the heat where I live (70-80 degrees and very humid days) and when it rains these tend to stay dry. Heck one day a lady complimented me on my boots and was like "How much did those cost?" When I told her I ordered them and they were 30 bucks she was a little shocked and say "You got a hell of a deal" The main reason why I'm making it 4/5 stars is I just bought them, and everyone knows the real test is the longevity, not sure how long they'll last but if they last for a year then definitely worth 5/5, if they last for several more months then yeah 4/5.
These are so close to the original it's not funny. They are just as tough & long lasting. Sole is made of a different material but has great traction & maybe better durability. (been 40 years since I wore gov't issued) Everything else looks & feels the same to me. Just ordered a replacement pair for some I finally wore out. Took 3 years of almost daily wear & abuse. You could spend a lot more money & not get a better boot. Airborne.
I got these boots just for the simple fact that there are Vietnam replicas. I ended up wearing them as work boots and I love them had them for about a year.. These Boots Are Awesome but they do have skid marking soles
These are definitely outdoor boots only. I I put these on and wore them around the house for about an hour playing with my 2 year old son. My wife came in and ask what happened to the floors. The soles have ruined my floors. It looks like some one let a dozen kids with black markers draw on the floors. They are light weight and ok for work outside though.
These boots are awesome! Even though they come sized larger than normal, they look great! I realize we haven't actually been "in the jungles" since the mid-70's, but they would be awesome if I ever got lost in the woods and it turned into a jungle! Oh, and someone mentioned that you had to buy soles for them, mine already had soles on them but I ground all those nasty lugs off the bottoms so I had a smooth surface to walk on - since I wear them indoors and those lugs did a job on my shag carpets!! I would definitely recommend this camping gear to anyone who is not afraid to sleep in a tent after dark, with all those crazy sounds in the night and probably zombies patrolling the neighborhood behind my yard!! ***** GREAT SOCKS AT TWICE THE PRICE *****
And that's just what they will do! Very comfortable and great quality for the price. The soles are super thick too, so these guys are going to last awhile. I wear a size 10 to 10 1/2 normally. The sizes are pretty spot on to give you an idea. Fits the foot comfortably. Great boot!
Boots arrived in a timely manner, Great fit, Price is right.. Great for Security work will recommend these boots to my co-workers.
I wear a 10 1/2 D and was afraid to get a 10R so i ordered a 11R and they are about 1 1/2 inches to long, but that's OK i guess.. rather be little bigger than too tight, shipping was fast, thanks again BUDK
I ordered a size 10R and based on the number on the boots that's what I got. However, the boots are three sizes too big!!! Honestly! I expect some size differences from manufacture to manufacture, but this is Krazy!
I just got these boots today, they shipped quickly, and I wore them as soon as I got them until I got home tonight. They are very comfortable, and fit perfectly. I definitely reccommend these if you need a good pair of boots for an awesome price.
I got my boots on monday and Iv had them all week... feet feel Great well be ordering more for my son (not 4 cold weather) but all around Awsome boot
Awesome boots! I love the new smell! One problem is that the boots did not come in half sizes which is OK because I guess I have to grow into them which is totally fine. Otherwise I love them! A must buy!
I thought these boots were supposed to last they didn't even last me a month and I didn't ware them daily.
Great Rothco boots for an amazing price!! Slightly loose on my 10.5 foot shoe size with the size 10 boot but this is normal as these boots are for wet/jungle climate use (ie foot swelling and expansion). The inner side drain holes will be perfect for when you ford rivers or streams. When I use these in the hot South Carolina summers with good thick socks they should fit nicely. Again, you can't beat the price and they have that great "new rubber" smell that spells: Indestructibility!!
I feel like I should submit a review immediately after wearing it. These are indeed very comfortable. I can see why they'd be used in the Jungle. As advertised, the soles are indeed nice rubber. Not a big deal, but the boots are not as polished or shiny as the image shows. And as for choosing a size, I chose my size 8, but it came a little too big. Better than being too small. Overall, I'd recommend these.
These are the best hiking boots I have ever had. They grip onto just about any surface. Made of great quality leather, rubber, and tough canvas. The only draw back is you have to buy soles for them, but then they are extremely comfortable. I will be buying more pairs and hopefully they keep making them forever.
Boots have a real solid feel to them. Very Lightweight, with a bit of bounce in the rubber. A major drawback I found was that I ordered the wrong size. I ordered 1 size too large and the steel shanks rubbed skin off my ankles. Please make sure you order the correct size. If you wear a half size then round down. 11.5 wearers should order 11's for example.
I Love these boots! they are the best boots I have ever worn and they stand up to the wear and tear!
These are some great boots! The only reason they get four stars instead of five is because some of the eyelets came out. That doesn't matter though because these are very sturdy and durable (they look great too).
