Sent back the first one because no instructions were included and I thought the LED light wouldn't work. Come to find out there is a pattern to turning it on and off. Time will tell if the charger works from the sun, where I live in Michigan we haven't had much sunshine lately....

Two quick clicks of the button turns the bright light on, one click after its on goes to "low beam", one more sends it to flash mode, two more quick clicks turns it off again. It takes about three hours with a 2 amp charger to charge it completely from an empty tank. I recommend giving it an initial charge via this method. I leave it in direct sunlight to keep it ready to go. The fourth L.E.D. begins to come on after about the fifth or sixth hour from empty using bright summer Sun. It operates a variety of my gadgets satisfactorily all day long. I'm sure your mileage will vary but I'm pleased with it so far. I just hope it will last a few years. Time will tell...

It seems to work well. The charger did not come with any instructions as to how long does it take to charge in direct sunlight. It has 4 very small blue lights on the top which either indicates battery level or how strong it is charging. The LED light is very bright once you figure out how to turn it on.
